A bustling holiday resort in summer and the ideal retreat in winter: Mossel Bay is situated on a spectacular sun-washed peninsula embraced by the warm Indian Ocean. It is also called the “Karoo-by-the-Sea town”, and features in the Guiness Book of Records as having the mildest all-year round climate in the world, second only to Hawaii.
Its fascinating history grants the town its status as the historical capital of the Garden Route and one of the most significant towns in South Africa. Mossel Bay also has a unique beach with a completely natural play area for young and old alike.
Dolphins are frequently spotted frolicking off the point, as are Southern Right Whales during their mating and calving season; this is from June right through to November.
