Knysna
Knysna is one of the Garden Route’s best-known travel destinations – situated as it is between lush forests and the shores of the peaceful estuary. It offers many activities and attractions to a wide variety of people. In and around Knysna one will find a selection of fine restaurants, seafood taverns, pubs, coffee shops and eateries. These are all well-suited to match your mood or budget.
For the shopper, there are interesting shops tucked away around every corner, authentic African traders, and for the person with a passion for history, Knysna will intrigue you… The Featherbed Company gives visitors to the Garden Route an unforgettable experience on the Knysna Lagoon.
This Lagoon, more accurately defined as an estuary, has five fresh water rivers flowing into it from the surrounding Outeniqua Mountains. These are met by the surge of sea water from the Indian Ocean through the mighty headlands – known as the ‘Knysna Heads’.
These are the grand sandstone cliffs which tower above the entrance to the Lagoon. The Knysna Waterfront encompasses marinas, shopping malls and residential complexes. It is a vibrant, buzzing complex that caters for shopping, exciting dining, or relaxed contemplation. Sitting on the edge of a pier, eating an ice-cream, is a lovely way to spend a little time. Knysna is about 115 km from Mossel Bay.
